The weekend is almost here and I couldn’t be happier! It seems like this week is dragging and I can’t wait to spend some time with the boy, celebrate Mother’s Day and see Hairspray with my Mom!
I meant to blog at lunch yesterday but instead Dad asked to do lunch. Of course I choose my Dad! I had intended to blog when I got home but I got asked to make some desserts for the a company thing on Saturday. Since I am not attending the community event (my schedule has changed like 5 times and I didn’t want to commit if I’m still not 100% sure what time everything will happen tomorrow) I had to bake them last night.
I’ll share my first EPIC fail as Caitlin would say. I desperately wanted to make these Fluffernutter Cookies from Picky Palate. They only had 3 ingredients and seemed simple enough. WRONG!!! I could not have failed more with these cookies. Since mine failed, I don’t want to give you what should be a good recipe. I just don’t know what I did wrong! Such a shame! These had some much potential but I must have done something terribly wrong. I’ll have to try it again when I get over the shame of messing up such a simple recipe. 😦
I work close to a Border’s bookstore and sometimes with my Dad or Lauren. Around my birthday, Dad went and got me a late birthday present we saw one of my favorite books at the checkout. After telling the hubs how much I loved the book I finally went back with Lauren to get it. Here’s some of my favorite parts of the book “The Monster at the End of the Book”:

I didn’t remember this next page from reading it as a child but giggled when I found it while having “story time” with the hubs. I wanted to show him why I loved this book so much! And then I found this:

Then absolutely get yourself one of these silpat liners. They really make a difference, I use it with ALL of my cookies. I find my cookies stay more plump with the liner.
I think my problem might have been incorporating the egg into the peanut butter. I’ll have to try again. And definitely look into those liners. I’ve been eyeing them but didn’t know if they made much of a difference. Thanks for the advice!
i’ve never read that book, but it looks fun!
i loved that book as a kid! and grovers one about hats that was shaped as a helmut. but my ALL TIME FAVOURITE book was Dogger about a kid and his soft toy dog that he loses at a fair and his sister uses her pocket money to buy it off the kid who has it 🙂
also those fluffernutters look bizzare never heard of fluff so i might try with real marshmallows 🙂
